During the current COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a lot of discussion about the value of wearing face masks. Now scientists from Canada have reviewed all of the medical evidence and concluded that face masks can be effective against the spread of the virus. They also reported that physical distancing of at least 1 meter (3 feet) works along with goggles for healthcare workers. The findings showed a decrease in risk of 82% with a physical distance of 1 meter, in both health-care and community settings. Every extra meter of separation more than doubled the protection. For healthcare workers, masks with multilayers are more protective than a mask with a single layer. A well-designed cloth mask should have water-resistant fabric, multiple layers, and fit your face well.
