A recent study shows that influenza can increase rates of pneumonia, heart disease, and abnormal glucose levels among people with type 2 diabetes. The study also reported that technologies that measure physical activity and sleep can detect very early changes at the very beginning of flu, such as a decrease in activity and less sleep. This means that soon it may be possible to alert someone that they have the flu and therefore can start anti-flu treatment. Once new drugs become available for other infections, especially COVID-19, technology will come to the rescue!
