Digital health unites health care with technology, especially smartphones. This is a rapidly developing field and a great deal of work is being done in digital health related to diabetes. The team at Sansum Diabetes Research Institute uses wearable technologies in programs aimed at reducing the disproportionate burden of type 2 diabetes affecting Hispanic/Latino families in the United States. These include devices that measure blood glucose in real-time, physical activity, and sleep. Dr. Kerr has also recently published a book on the subject, which brings together experts from around the world to discuss where we are with digital health and where this is going. Watch this space!
