We know that outcomes for people with diabetes can be severe if they become infected with COVID-19 and so it is especially important to keep blood sugar levels under good control to reduce the risk of infection. A new study has also found that developing a severe COVID-19 infection can reveal diabetes in people admitted to hospital who previously did not know that they had diabetes. The researchers also found that high blood sugar is associated with much longer hospital stays and higher risk of serious outcomes.
