Recent research suggests that high levels of air pollution could raise the risk from COVID-19. The risk seems to be related to tiny air pollutants called particulate matter 2.5 [PM2.5.] Countries with high levels of PM2.5, many in Latin America, Africa and Asia, should prepare. Here at Sansum Diabetes Research Institute, we are also investigating possible links between PM2.5 and type 2 diabetes (https://milfamilias.sansum.org).
