The virus that causes COVID-19 can live in the air and on surfaces for between several hours and several days – up to 72 hours on plastics, 48 hours on stainless steel, 24 hours on cardboard. Although this sounds scary, the research refers to pieces of the virus rather than a complete virus. Although infection is possible it is unlikely after a few days. To keep safe continue to wash surfaces with cleaning fluid that contains at least 60% alcohol and of course soap and water.
